I'm having trouble finding the cpt code for left ankle tibialis anterior tenotomy. The operative report state surgeon made a linear incision extended down to the tibialis anterior tendon via sharp and blunt dissection, the tendon was transected in its entirety using a #15 blade. Thank you for any help!

Figure out what type of tendon the anterior tibialis is, and then look for that tenotomy code for lower leg or might be considered ankle area. Not every muscle or tendon has it's own CPT code by specific name.
Hint *** ICD-10-CM CH. 19 Muscle and Tendon table is your friend. :)

It is an extensor tendon. Closest cpt code is 27664-Repair, extensor tendon, leg; primary, without graft, each tendon. The description mentions torned tendons which was not this case. I'm too black and white.

Did they do anything else during the case? What were the dx codes? What does the header say? Because, they probably aren't just going to cut it and leave it like that. Was it during the course of a bigger procedure like fusion or replacement or transfer?
