I have a patient with a large effusion of the knee. Sent fluid to be cultured and came back positive for elevated WBC's, calcium pyrophosphate disease and steptococcal species. Physician decided to take to the OR to see what was going on.
The physician did the following:
partial synovectomy of the patella removing abnormal debris-29875
lateral meniscectomy for lat meniscus tear-29881
chondroplasties of the MFC and patella for chondromalacia-G0289
lavage and drainage of the whole knee joint with 9 Liters and left a drain in place-29871
This is what i am thinking of billing out:
29881 29875-59 29871-59 G0289
I would appreciate others opinions. Just interested on what others would do.
Thanks Carol.
