Hi there,
Hoping someone can help with a CPT/ICD-10 for this. We have a patient that had a Ventriculoperitoneal shunt removed by the Dr. who placed it. He was only able to remove the proximal portion. On a different day our general surgeon took them to surgery and laparoscopically removed the remaining tubing. "the shunt tubing could be clearly seen entering into abdomen in the epigastrium with the tip placed over the right lobe of the liver. The shunt tubing was easily removed and sent to pathology for identification". I am thinking an unlisted code? The tubing was causing abdominal pain; so I am thinking a complication code?

Thanks!!!
