We have a new certified lactation consultant that just joined our practice. She is seeing patients for preventative counseling as well as problem solving. According to her I should be able to code a preventative counseling session (ie 99401,33) and a lactation problem visit (ie 99211, with problem dx code) on the same date of service. This seems wrong to me. I don't understand how you can bill preventative and problem on the same day for the same thing. Any ideas?
