Wiki labs done in office

We are primary care and do strep screenings, UAs, etc in office in our lab. I have one insurance that is denying these, stating "use preferred lab vendor" I have tried with and without QW modifier and still getting denied. Any advise how to go about appealing this? Thanks!

Labs in Office

You should check your contract. We had some payers who would allow us to bill labs performed in our office, others who did not. Those who we could not, we sent to an outside lab.

I agree, there are insurance companies that will not allow a provider to do labs in the office, you need to check with the contract and with the provider relations department of the insurance. In some cases there may be specific codes that need to be used to indicate the test was done in house.
