I have a laboratory question, in regard, to a Organ or Disease Oriented Panels:
A patient comes into our physician's office and in-house laboratory is ordered. Example (if a Electrolyte Panel, Creatinine, BUN, Hepatic Panel, Lipid Panel).
What CPT codes would you submit?
I have always been told if you do not have a medical necessity for a test that is included in a panel to submit individual codes. Example: If I did not have a medical necessity for calcium, total which is included in a Basic Metabolic Panel.
