Can you tell me if Ligation of left atrial appendage and a closure of a PFO is included in CABG or MV replacement?

You can code the PFO closure during those surgeries but the ligation of the LAA is included.

We get paid for the Placement of the Atricure Clip on the LAA using the 33999 then providing the Operative Report upon request from the insurance company, for the treatment of A-fib. Our physicians used to ligate the LAA & I billed with the 33999 also; I believe we were paid for those as well.
