Is there any written coding guideline that states that inpatient services should not be billed until the patient is discharged from the hospital? If so, please tell where this can be found.
Why would you wait? If you have the supporting signed documentation, I think you should bill as you go. That is unless it is a policy at your employer. Some patients are in the hospital for months, why wait?
