Greetings!
This patient had a J tube placed during an ex. lap. approximately 8 weeks ago.
Now the surgeon wishes to remove it. I realize that she is the global, but he is taking her back to the OR as an outpatient to do it during the global period. What is the code to use for removal of a J tube? Since the surgeon has decided that it is now "no longer needed", should I use a modifier 58 as well?
I am using the ICD-9 code V55.4 for this as well.
I am rather new to general surgery coding, so any help would be appreciated.
