How do y'all feel about this? MD wants to bill the insurance carrier for the IUD Device on the day that she requests it, basically to put it on hold for her.

Then upon insertion, he will bill the insert fee.

Does this sound OK to do? I've checked with our carriers and can't find anything specific on their website (mostly MA in Minnesota and BCBS of MN).

Thanks!

And then what happens if the patient decides not to go through with the procedure and you end up sending the money back to the insurance carrier? I would be very cautious about doing that, I could see it sending red flags to the carriers for refunding due to procedure not performed.

That is my main concern. Patient doesn't return and we've been paid for a device.

I think I've convinced him this is NOT a good idea.

Thanks for the input.
