Wiki is it possible for a seroma to be excised?

op report states:

an incision was made over the seroma, the seroma was removed. the capsule over the extensor musculature was repaired.

would i code this as incision & drainage of seroma or as removal of foreign body? or should i just code the capsule repair and the seroma would be inclusive?

any help greatly appreciated!!!!

Sounds like it may be a poorly worded op report. The question revolves around what the word "removed" means--drainage? If what you posted is the entire op report, there isn't even enough information for the repair. You may want to query the doctor for clarification. If the doctor actually did a full-thickness excision of the seroma you'd need dimensions for coding purposes.
