I have such trouble with the I&D codes. Pt has septic arthritis of finger so Doctor does an Irrigation and debridement . I don't know if this is 26020 or maybe 10140. I think it is 26020 because he mentioned the capsule.
Description...A transverse incision was made over the index finger directly over the DIP joint with dissection of skin and subcutaneous tissue. Tissue induration was appreciated. No significant purulence. The capsule was then entered medial and lateral to the extensor tendon, which was noted to be intact. A small amount of clear synovial type fluid was expelled. No purulence or abscess was encountered.
Any help if much appreciated.
