Hello, IR/Cardiovascular coders. I'm currently an inpatient coder with an interest in IR/CV coding. I would like to get some feedback from coders in this field as I am trying to decide whether to pursue this avenue of coding. What do you like about this type of coding? Conversely, what is it about this field of coding that drives you up the wall? Any other pros/cons would be helpful. Thank you so much!

I absolutely love IR/CV coding!! It's challenging and always keeps me on my toes! Technology is forever changing; thus, it's a fascinating specialty. The CIRCC certification is highly regarded and a "definite must" for those in this coding field. It is a difficult exam, but sooooooooooo rewarding when one passes it!

That being said, the only "con" I'm coming across is the limited avenues for CIRCC CEU's. While Panacea/MedLearn and Zhealth (Dr. Z) are wonderful resources, obtaining CEU's from either can be somewhat pricey.

Good luck with your decision! I know I've never regretted mine!
