In a message board/group, a colleague of our ENT practice administrator shared that BCBS of MN is now requiring a board-certified radiologist read/interpret sinus CT imaging as a requirement of balloon sinuplasty prior authorization. Our ENTs' do their own interpretations of sinus CT scans performed at our location. We have a Xoran MiniCat and chose to accredit thru IAC. Several others on the message board/group chimed in with hearing rumor in their states as well but nothing has materialized. Our practice is located in Florida and many of our patients' primary insurance is BCBS from another state. If anyone has additional information re any payer and in office sinus CT interpretation, I would be glad to hear from you. Thanks.
