We are a critical access hospital and had an patient as inpatient the patient was having chest pain the provider could not get to the hospital at that time and requisted to have the er provider assess the patient so instead of the er provider coming to the patients room they had the patient brought to the er, there was an verbal order entered by nursing to admit to er but in talking to the provider his intent was just to have someone see the patient, can we charge for er when the patient was already an inpatient.
