We currently have a patient on our psych unit that refuses to talk to the provider, the only person she will speak to is our CQI nurse who is running interference between the provider and the patient. We are in the process of blue papering her to an involuntary facility. The psychaiatrist will also sit at the nurses station and observe the patients behavior in the common area and analyze how the patient is acting and reacting to others. The patient is leaving today and we are wondering how we can bill the psychiatrists services for yesterday and today because he did not do any therapy with the patient but has spent alot of time in observing her and speaking with the CQI nurse about what is going on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
