What if any is the proper code to bill for this scenario? Patient had an insurance covered abdominal panniculectomy performed by the surgeon in a free standing ambulatory surgical center. This procedure has a 90 day global. Seven days later the patient develops a fever and calls the surgeon during the night and he sends her to the emergency room. The emergency room physician admits the patient. The following day the surgeon who performed the panniculectomy goes to the hospital to follow up with the patient each day while she is inpatient for 2 days. The admitting emergency room physician then discharges the patient on the 3rd day of her stay at the hospital. The original performing surgeon does not perform any procedures on the patient while she is admitted. He did not admit or discharge her.

Are the hospital follow up visits by the original performing surgeon billable and if so what code would you use or do the hospital follow up visits fall under the global of the panniculectomy surgery?
