Hello! Does anyone know what diagnosis code I should be using when the patient is admitted for spontaneous labor with no complications? I was told we code based off what they were admitted for but I haven't been able to find a code that really matches that.

Correct, there is no dx for spontaneous labor.. are you coding a delivery note?
Yeah I have a H&P for when the patient was admitted and a delivery note. I am not billing these globally so I bill for both. I wasn't sure if I bill the same codes that I would use for the delivery since technically they didn't deliver at admission but if I don't and there are no pregnancy complication or complications causing her to come in then I don't know what else to use because the only info I have is that they cam in due to water breaking and having contractions.

Well delivery services include admission to the hospital, so unless the patient was admitted more than 24 hours before she delivered for a condition, it is not separately billable.

I understand that. When we bill non global we have situations where our set guidelines allow us to bill them separately which is why I am asking if anyone knows which diagnosis to use.
