Hello,

Can anyone advise on how to code the following:

Patent came in to the office and had an injection into the shoulder 40% depo Medrol into the AC joint and 40% depo Medrol into the subacromial space same shoulder.

Can I code 20160 - RT and J1040 or do I have to code 20610-RT J1030 and 20610-RT with a 51 modifier J1030

You need to look at the insurance. CMS considers the shoulder to be one anatomical location, which is incorrect but they do. If the payer is CMS or follows CMS you would only be able to bill 20610 once. If the insurance is not CMS or following CMS, then you could bill both with a -59 modifier.
