My question is this: When a Dr does cpt code 20610 and 20550 for different DX reason's; is modifier 59 ok to apply to one of the codes? The CCI edits state that it is a misuse of column 1 and column 2 codes. However it does allow for a modifier. For instance, Dr give an injection (20610) in the knee with Euflexxa. But then he gives another trigger point injection (20550) in the hip with Kenalog. These would be 2 different DX for 2 different sites and 2 different meds. Thanks

Yes modifier 59 wold be appropriate, or XS if the payer wants the X modifiers
