Wiki injections during global period

Hello,

After reading an article in the AAOS, regarding injections during global period for joint reconstruction, the article stated that joint injections for pain mgmt or aspiration of an effusion are not considered separately reportable by Medicare. After bringing this to the attention of our physician, his question is what about other insurances? Is only a Medicare guideline or across the board?

I have found that most follow that policy.

It varies from ins to ins; MCR & UHC do not allow procedures in the same body area during global, most others do.
