I'm working in Billing and Coding company and I've a question regarding a chemotherapy drug Fluorouracil 5-Fu (6x)which was given to a patient but 40 mg was wasted . How to code the wastage along with the used drug
You need to check the guidelines for your state. Some states require a JW modifier, however, here in Montana we bill the amount of the drug taken out and put a note in the description line item indicating the amount wasted. HTH
