When billing for Vit-B or Depo injection, we use the 96372 for the administration. Sometimes the patient comes in for just an injection with the nurse.

On the 96372 states "do not charge for injections given without direct physician supervision, instead report 99211". There are times when the physician is not in the clinic and may be at the hospital. I also have something saying you can not report 99211 for just an injection visit.

Is there some way we can bill an administration charge for those patients?

I have always found that little note very strange because you cannot charge a 99211 if the physician is not physically onsite. When I spoke with the director of the nursing school here she stated that in a physician office setting an RN/LPN cannot perform any service if the physician is not in the office and he should check his malpractice insurance about that. She indicated that perhaps this notation is referencing home health services and not physician office services. Just a thought!
