pt comes in with knee pain, he is sent for MRI it's confirms it is a tear. He comes back to the office with his dx. W:confused:ould this be considered the inintial visit or sub incounter for the tear ? thanks

My understanding is

Initial Encounter - is used while the patient is receiving actve treatment

Subsequent Encounter - is used after a patient has received actve treatment and is receiving routine care for a condtion during the healing or recovery phase.

Sequela - is used for a complication or conditions that arise as a direct result of a condition (e.g. scar formation after a burn)

I received this from the woman who trained all of us on ICD-10

I hope this helps
