hello, I am confused on whether I should use 10140(Incision and drainage of hematoma, seroma or fluid collection) or 21501(Incision and drainage, deep abscess or hematoma, soft tissues) thorax. Please help
In the supine position with appropriate monitoring she received general anesthesia with IV antibiotic in the right axilla is prepped with chlorhexidine draped after 3 minutes. I used a blunt 18-gauge needle introduced to retrieve fluid and then make a vertical incision transversely in the axilla, that is about a 3 cm incision. Glove digit is used to penetrate into a seroma cavity with evacuation. I irrigate with clear return. There is bleeding from second subcutaneous tissues. I placed a 15 French channel drain trocar in the lower flap to exit near the mastectomy scar and cut to a short length and placed within and I palpate that it fits into the cavity without redundancy. This is anchored with 3–0 polypropylene suture.
