Wiki Icd-9 volume 3 codes

Hello one of my new providers is using 89.26 as a diagnosis code. Unfortunately these codes were not learned about during my CPC class. Everything I look at states it is a procedure code. Can someone help me understand when and if we should ever use the ICD-9 Volume 3 codes? Thanks!

Volume 3 codes are for inpatient facility codes. Physicians do not use these codes.
