We are the billing company for a mental health hospital. Most of our patients only have one diagnosis code and their claims have been paying. Recently, MHNet has been denying inpatient psych claims asking for the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) code.
I have been researching DRGs and have been unable to find out how they are reported on the UB04 claim form, and have not found a list of the mental health DRG codes. The only ones that I've seen available are for ICD-10.
MHNet is so far the only insurance we are having this issue with, but since it is inpatient psych the claims are pretty big. I'm going to keep looking into this, but if anyone has some advice or knows of resources for ICD-9 to DRG mapping tools I'd really appreciate it!
