One of my co-workers said she read 'something' that mentioned there would be an update to ICD-10 codes in April 2016 (as opposed to the normal update effective in Oct.). Has anyone heard anything about this?

The HIPAA amendment has always allowed for 2 updates a year: April 1 and October 1. The committee meets in April to determine thevOctober updates and meets in November to determine April updates. They have in previous years decided against an Apeil update. We will not know for certain until after the November meeting.
