Can the number for PSA be counted as severity for HPI? If they have elevated PSA and the MD is stating PSA 5.4 could I count that towards severity similar to when evaluating a stage of cancer? IE: Gleason 6

What are your thoughts?

According to NAMAS, severity is defined as a ranking of the system - severe, slightly worse, chronic, can't describe, moderate distress, takes breath away, size of lump or mass, scale 1-10, improved, high blood sugars, etc. So unless the provider actually states - the word "elevated", I don't think I would count it as severity.

Hope this helps!

So if they are stating elevated PSA you would count for severity but not if they only state the measurement of PSA showing that it is elevated?
