We are a small Critical Access Hospital. Our orthopedic surgeons (who are not employed by us) have asked our Hospitalists to
act as the attending physicians for their fractured hip cases. They ask that the Hospitalist perform the admitting H&P to clear
the patient for surgery and then postoperatively follow the patient's medical conditions. The Orthopedic surgeons do perform postoperative rounding
during the hospitalization. I understand that the Orthopedic Surgeons will have to unbundle their surgical global since they are not performing the preop H&P.

If the Orthopedic surgeon performs their own H&P in addition to the Hospitalists' H&P are they allowed to bill the surgical global?

In this instance they would be performing all the components of a global package; the H&P, operation and postop care. The Orthopedic surgeon's
coder is asking for my guidance. I've done a lot of research and don't find this exact scenario. Thanks in advance for your help.
