Can everyone provide me with their definition of what is considered a routine supply. Here is what we use


The following would be considered non-routine, therefore chargeable

¨ Directly identifiable to the individual patient. Not customarily used for each patient visit.

¨ Furnished at the direction of a physician because of specific medical needs

¨ Either is not reusable or represents a cost for each preparation

¨ Not a personal convenience item

¨ Volume used for a patient significantly greater than normally used.



Flagler Hospital's Protocol is based upon Medicare's guidance when identifying chargeable supplies.
