I have a billing company and my client is a Hospital that does Physician billing. Someone was telling me that the billing is very different but could not explain, is this so? They are a orginazation that is basically buying out the doctors in their community, they have set up an 501 and all of the doctors bill under one tax id. Several doctors see patients in their office as well as the hospital.
One of their questions is, a pulmonologist will perform a PFT in his office. The hospital wants to have the patient register as an outpatient but have the services performed in the doctors office. I have never heard of this before however since the hospital owns all of the equipment could this be done.
I would appreciate any help and direction if you could.
