Our patient had multiple major surgeries over a months' time as part of cancer treatment. The patient was ordered home health care after the surgeries and our physician ordered and signed the home health certification, so we billed G0180 and Medicare paid. However, the patient experienced a post-operative condition, which required a new treatment plan with new goals for the home health. Our physician is thinking we can bill another G0180 (17 days after the first G0180), as there is a new treatment plan and goals for home health. I did a lot of reading but could not find any information about re-billing an initial certification IF the patient's treatment and care plans changed due to post operative complications.
