Hi Friends,
Looking for thoughts on His Lead insertions--
Is anyone coding this with an additional code? Perhaps 33999?
I have always understood the addition of a his lead to be more natural way to provide pacing to the heart( v. two lead configuration), with the addition of the HIS lead helping the heart achieve a more natural electrical conduction pattern.
A provider I audit has been achieving His lead pacing by inserting three leads--one in the RA, one at the His, and one in the RV apex, all attached to a Biv generator.
I have been coding this to 33208. It has been suggested to me that instead the His lead insertion should be parsed out and bill as 33999 additionally.
I have seen an alternative suggestion in device rep reimbursement materials that the whole procedure should just be coded with 33999, and nothing else.
Thoughts? I have sent question to CPT knowledge base. As I really do find no definitive answer from a coding body on this one.
Thank you in advance,
