Wiki hip injection coding opinion needed please

hello-
i have an ortho specialist who is treating a patient for rt hip pain- cortisone injection w/ ultrasound guidance.
i typically would bill injection as 20611-rt
-however-
my doc seemd to think that he can bill it as 20550 with 76942 stating cortisone injection in "IT band region".
essentially it was a cortisone injection in rt hip w/ ultrasound guidance-if anyone could please verify the correct coding for this scenario- it would be greatly appreciated

I would agree with the doc, ONLY if he documents that the injection was given directly into the IT Band. If the injection was into the hip joint or bursa, then you would need to bill 20611.
