Hi I am new to coding and hip coding, I was wondering if anyone knew if these codes were only used when a patient has FAIS? The reason I am asking is because I have several payers who are denying these codes and send me a denial letter saying FAIS is not documented within the patient's medical record, for example 6 months of conservative treatment, xrays etc. don't meet the qualifications for FAIS. But I basically want to know is FAIS the only reason you would do these surgical codes, not just hip pain and the doctor went in and needed to do CAM decompression (maybe this does mean the patient has FAIS?)

Any help would be appreciated.
