Someone told my doctor that he could've recieved a larger payment from an insurance carrier had the coder applied an Ecode on the surgery. Is this true??? :confused:I have never heard of recieving higher reimbursement for adding an Ecode. Please anyone, gimme some insight. My doctor is second guessing my work! Thank you!!!

P.S.This is a repost. I accidently posted this in General Discussion OFF TOPIC.

I have never heard of anything like this either. I am working on the Colorado Clean Claims Task Force and we are currently reviewing all edits by all commercial carriers in Colorado which include UHC, Anthem BCBS, CIGNA, AETNA, CMS logic, Rocky Mountain Health Plans and I have still never heard of an E-code being a reimbursement specific code. I would review your contract though, as some contracts have language that is specific to your area and could have a "carve-out" type of situation that specifies this logic.
