Help please!!
Patient has hematoma post mastectomy and breast reconstruction. Taken back to the OR following day to evacuate hematoma with drain placement then surgeons removed tissue expanders and implant washed out pocket with antibiotic solution then replace tissue expanders with re-positioning then replaced the implant. We are having a little difficulty agreeing on how this should be coded. Should we be billing 10140 and 19357? Or should we bill 10140 with 22 modifier as they did not really do a reconstruction but removed it to wash out and then replaced it? Thank you for any feedback.
