PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS:
Left carotid artery central line.
GI bleeding.

POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS:
Left carotid artery central line.
GI bleeding.

OPERATION PERFORMED:
Exploration of left carotid artery.
Removal of central venous catheter.
Suture repair of left common carotid arteriotomy.
Suture repair of left internal jugular venotomies x2.

FINDINGS:
The triple lumen catheter penetrated the medial anterior and posterior walls (through-and through) of the left internal jugular vein and entered the distal left common carotid artery. The catheter was removed in one piece. The arteriotomy and venotomies were repaired by sutures.
