Screw removal AND heel spur excision? Or just one or the other?
They're not bundled procedures, but....?
By using a sharp dissection, the skin incision is performed about 2 cm in length on the posterior aspect of the right calcaneus. The area is dissected in the same plane with a sharp and a blunt dissection. Care is taken to preserve blood vessels and nerves, which are retracted out of the surgical field. A cannulated screw is isolated and removed in total from the area. The area is flushed with 1% Lidocaine plain.
An exostosis is noted on the posterior aspect of the right calcaneus. By using a bone rongeur, the exostosis on the posterior aspect of the right calcaneus was resected. The area was rasped and flushed with sterile saline solution.
