Wiki Help with modifier 22

I have a procedure that my dr wants to put modifier 22 on since it was difficult and required more time. But can you increase the cost of the procedure and if so, how much?

I've billed with a 22 modifier before but never increased the fee. I think the payment is something like 25% above the set fee schedule. If your charge is high enough to support that, a charge increase would not be required. You would just have less of a contractual adjustment. You will need to submit the claim with the medical records, to support the additional difficulties.
