Formal informed consult was obtained. Patient was positioned, prepped and draped in standard sterile technique. The external genitalia was cleaned with Betadine. A speculum was then inserted with visualization of the cervix. The vaginal canal was then cleaned with betadine. The cervical opening was cannulated. Then under fluoroscopic guidance, water-soluble contrast was injected in a retrograde fashion.
The uterus demonstrates decreased distension. There is no evidence of filling defect, septum or mass. The uterine contour was irregular with small outpouchings suggestive of adenomyosis. The bilateral fallopian tubes were not visualized. IUD is seen and appears malpositioned as it is in the low uterine segment or cervical canal. Upon completion HSG set and speculum was removed.
