At my office (Obstetrics & Gynecology) we perform medical abortion up to 10 weeks gestation using the pills, the doctor bills 59855 for the abortion. However some insurance companies (GHI & HIP) will deny the claim for inappropriate POS, because the abortion was performed in POS (11). They will only reimburse if done in POS (22). Is there another CPT code I can use? And how is it that some abortions clinics can perform them & get reimburse from them? Aren't they POS 11 too?
