I am encountering difficulties with billing 2 medical insurance companies. For many years I was able to bill orthopedic disposable / single use equipment together with implants with the code L8699 and now suddenly they have informed us that this equipment can't be billed under this code and they are requesting us to pay them back. Can they do this??? Quotes for these surgeries were sent for approval with detailed information of the equipment that was to be used, it was reviewed by their "experts" so they knew there were disposables involved, they approved them and paid them. We are willing to accept this new policy for future quotes but not for retroactive ones. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Is what they are doing ilegal? What can we do?? Thank you!!
