New
Procedure is "Open Quadriceps tendon exploration right knee" -
Procedure details seem to match that of 27385, although, there was not a
tendon rupture, Formal repair was not felt to be indicated.
Is there another code for exploration (27331?) or would 27385 get a modifier?
"midline incision was made through the skin and subcutaneous tissue at the superior pole of the patella. Dissection was taken down sharply to the patella and quadriceps tendon. Examination of the quadriceps tendon demonstrated some hemorrhage but no evidence of full-thickness quadriceps tendon tear. With flexion and extension there was no separation of the fibers. Formal repair was not felt to be indicated. Wound was irrigated and closed w/ wo 0 polysorb and 3 0 biosyn suture in a running subcuticular fashion. Steri-strip and sterile dressing were applied."
Thank you for any input
