One of our physicians has been working with a sleep study program at a local hospital
and they have been doing the coding.
Now they have signed a new contract and I will be coding and billing his portion of the
study which is reading and interpreting the report.
HELP. How do I code for his portion.
 
Sleep Study

For sleep studies performed in a facility, monitored by a tech, etc., where you are now reporting the interpretation and report you will need to append modifier -26 to the CPT code for the study. An example would be 95810-26. There are requirements for the study itself for many carriers...duration must be at six hours or more, etc...so be sure and check with the carrier. Medicare has good info available in a NCD and most of the MACs that I have come across have an LCD.
