Question....

Does anyone know of any visual aids/interactive tools, other than reading a study guide, that I can use to get a better understanding of E/M coding?

I'm not sure what state you're in but there is a Medicare E/M module for our location. Type in your email address and then select the Part B icon. This provides an E/M module.

Start with the basics

I would start with studying the Evaluation and Management Services Guidelines in your CPT book in the EM section (page 1-8).
I would also study the guidelines from CMS at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MLNEdWebGuide/25_EMDOC.asp.
Also a book entitled "Auditing evaluation and Management Coding" by Joe Rivet was very helpful.
