A Nurse Practitioner consulted the patient for diagnostic colonoscopy. GI docs were not able to see patient timely, referral sent to General Surgery for sooner access for colonoscopy. General Surgeon consulted on patient prior to colonoscopy 2 months later and consult is being denied as previously done by NP. The General Surgeon is having trouble with this and wanted to get some clarification on why this is not being billed out. We are talking two different departments with much different consult requirements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
