Is anyone using the HCPCs code M0064. I am using it with an E/M code 99215 along with other codes, but Medicare is denying the M0064 denial reason: CO-236 This procedure or procdure modifier combo is not compatible with another procedure or procedure/modifier combo provided on the same day according to the National Correct Coding Initiative.


When I looked up the NCCI, the code M0064 / 99215 is shown as having an eff date and deletion date both of which are 10/30/2000. Therefore, how can Medicare deny the usage of it ?!

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated !

M0064 is bundled in 99215 and is not separately billable with any modifier as per CCI edit. Also, lay description of M0064 states, "Code M0064 should be used when no other evaluation and management service is provided."
