Surgeon is placing a halo orthosis and he states that he performed peripheral nerve blocks by injecting 2 cc of lidocaine with epinephrine into the right and left regions of each halo screw. The surgeon is separately dictating the injections for the various nerves (supratrochlear, supraorbital, great auricular, and retroauricular) and calling them peripheral nerve blocks. I would like to know if any of you have seen nerve blocks performed with a halo application? If so, what was the doctor's reasoning for performing the nerve blocks? I will appreciate your guidance in this respect. Thank you.
